St. James’ Church Hall. Martin Way Morden.

Singing was still a popular form of entertainment during this period. Many homes had a piano and families brought sheet music in order to play the popular songs of the day.

During the 1939-45 conflict, radio speakers were fitted in many factories, enabling those manufacturing wartime products, such as munitions, to listen and sing along to programmes such as “Workers Playtime.
