Notes / History Patriotic fervour and welfare concerns led to many religious organisations to compete for the honour of providing entertainment and moral guidance to the troops.

At Wimbledon Camp the YMCA offered servicemen a range of comforts including books and newspapers, a card table, snooker, gramophone music and a varied entertainment programme.

Pictured here is the canteen where the good ladies of the Church Army prepared a selection of home cooked food.
