|Notes / History||This air raid shelter was on the grounds of The Boys’ County Public School. Air raid shelters were built for people caught out in the street during a bombing raid. They were also used by people who lived nearby who did not have a personal shelter or who disliked their personal shelter as they were invariable cold, damp and lonely.
