Notes / History The Opening Ceremony at Sibford House, Lower Mitcham.

During the late 1950's and '60s a number of large properties were converted into residential homes, or in this case, flatlets for the elderly. Sibford House, situated at the corner of London Road & Lower Green West was converted into 12 flatlets for the elderly in 1958.

Pictured here formally opening the new accommodation for the elderly are Alderman W. Jeffrey and Lady Lewisham, a former member of the Greater London Council, better known as Raine Spencer, stepmother of Princess Diana.
