Notes / History The pub name originates from the local cultivation of peppermint or “Mitcham Mint” during the nineteenth century.

During the 1960s the building was an off-licence and general store. It was converted into a pub in 1969.

The pub had a novel claim to fame during the 1970s – in order to tackle the growing problem of graffiti in the gents toilets, blackboards were fitted to allow customers freedom to express themselves. These literary efforts took the form of cheeky poems and daily racing tips.
