Notes / History The Mayor (Ald H.T. Simmons) crowns Jacqueline Glocking, aged fourteen, the May Queen of Mitcham. She wore a mauve floral crown made by her mother. Her Prince Charming was played by Ann Dalby, aged thirteen.

The Master of Ceremonies carried out the tradition of ringing the bell three times, crying out 'Oyez'... to give the order for the festivities to begin. Unfortunately, a bell had to be borrowed from a neighbouring school as the official 200 year old bell had been left in a taxi on the way to the fete.
