Notes / History Gilliat Edward Hatfeild created the rose garden around 1921. The rose garden is a much favoured place with families picnicking there in good weather and children enjoying the streams that run through it.

Some restoration is being carried out to the area as the soil and some of the original rose bushes have now run out of steam. The soil is being reinvigorated with manure and where necessary rose bushes are being replaced with similar or, where possible, the same varieties as the originals.
