Notes / History Another very skilfully planted floral display marking the Centenary of the Cyclists Touring Club 1878 - 1978.

In 1878 Scottish medical student, Stanley Cotterell, founded the Bicycle Touring Club to encourage more people to take up cycling. Renamed in 1883, the CTC is now the largest UK cycling organisation.

The Club promotes road safety and provides cyclists with resources and advice. It also lobbies on behalf of cyclists and stages a range of activities. Merton has an active CTC support group.
