Notes / History Lovell was "cofferer", i.e. household treasurer, to Queen Elizabeth I.
A prominent man in the Merton area, he was awarded a house on the site of Merton Priory for a period of 21 years.

Lovell married twice and had a total of 8 children.

This helmet can be seen suspended over his alabaster funerary monument that is near the altar at St Mary the Virgin, Merton Park.
