Notes / History Mitcham can boast one of the oldest cricket grounds in the world. Described as a “Nursery of English Cricket," Mitcham Cricket Club has nurtured generations of local, county, national and international players.

Being ahead of its time, Mitcham Cricket Club has been quick to support new talent, regardless of age, background, or gender. For instance during the 1930s the Club played host to the Australian women’s Team. Here the macebearer and Mayor, Alderman Turner, escort the players from Vestry Hall to the Cricket Green.
