| Notes / History | Flats on the High Path estate towering over the surrounding houses. This picture shows the south side if Merton High Street near the junction with Pincott Road. Much of the estate dates from the early 1950s and was built to replace slum housing. Many of the new blocks were known as "closes", including Priory Close, which replaced older terraces near Nelson Grove Road. Amongst the properties visible are Dowman Close House, built during the 1980s; Hudson Court Tower block, constructed in the 1970s and May Court in the distance. The latter property dates from 1967. |
