|Notes / History||This is a view of the ford known as The Splash which crosses the River Wandle beside Wandle Bridge, also known as Mitcham Bridge.
We are looking along Bishopsford Road( was Sutton Road) towards Mitcham.
The road was widened after WWII and the bridge extended over the old ford to provide a footpath for pedestrians.
The snow scene shows an old man with his basket and possibly a bundle of wood under his arm. Note the donkey and cart on the bridge.
