Black History Month 2017.

       Statue of Emperor Haile Selassie

This October, Merton Heritage Officer, Sarah Gould, has been staging a number of talks at venues across the borough to celebrate Black History Month.

The final event has now been reschedule due to a technical fault and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. The revised date is as follows:

24 October, 10.30am - 12 noon at West Barnes Library

Unsung Heroes: Black and Asian Troops in the First World War.

Between 1914 and 1918, Black and Asian servicemen fought for King and Country in their thousands, yet their courage and dedication has often been hidden from history. This illustrated talk will reveal more about this courageous generation of men, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice and lie buried far from home and family.
