Wandle Fortnight at Merton Heritage Centre

River Wandle at Phipps Bridge, Mitcham

Wandle Fortnight is a two week celebration, not only of the River Wandle, but also the Wandle Valley and everything it has to offer. Running from 9 to 24 September, this year's programme features over 60 events and activities across the boroughs of Croydon, Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth.

Merton Heritage Centre is staging two exhibitions for the duration of Wandle Fortnight ( 9 - 23 September ):

The River Wandle: Did You Know...? reveals unusual facts about the river and its surroundings, from ancient settlements and artistic connections, to famous residents and aspects of natural history.

A Thing of Beauty features images from the Merton Heritage collection.

On Saturday 23 September, 2 - 4pm Heritage Officer, Sarah Gould, will also be giving a local history talk. "A River Runs Through It" will look at the significance of the river and key sites along its course.

Admission to all these events is FREE.

You can get more details of events and activities happening in your area from the Wandle Fortnight brochure.
