Celebrate Black History.

October sees the return of Black History Month, a celebration of the history, culture and achievements of black people in the UK and the vital part they have played in the development of this country.

As part of the borough's celebrations, Merton Heritage Service has produced a special resource page page for the Merton Memories website. This features a range of online displays, films, recommended weblinks, research guides, quizzes, children's resources and information on local organisations. You can also view filmed interviews with members of the Caribbean community, sharing their memories of life and work in the UK.

To view our new Black History page click on this link  https://photoarchive.merton.gov.uk/bhmonth or use the History Pages & Activities tab on the Merton Memories homepage.

We hope you enjoy the new resources.

We are keen to expand the range of black history material in the Merton Heritage collection.

If you have photographs, stories or memorabilia that you would like to share, we would be delighted to hear from you.
