Notes / History | Mitcham fun fair 1910. Traditionally held on the 12th,13th and 14th August. Mitcham fair in the mid – 19th century had much in common with Greenwich fair,described by Charles Dickens in “sketches by BOZ”. Pickled salmon, oysters and gingerbread were favourite refreshments. Richardson’s travelling theatre and large dancing booths, now no longer a feature, were highly popular. |
