| Notes / History | Visit to Hengelo, Holland by a delegation of sportsmen and women from Mitcham, to promote links between the two towns through sport and friendship. The Mayor and Mayoress, Alderman & Mrs T.A Earst, meet their Dutch hosts during a visit in 1949. The party of 107 members of the Anglo-Netherlands sports, Art and Cultural Association took part in the third meeting between the two towns. The sportsmen and women represented included footballers, korfball players, swimmers and boxers. |
