| Notes / History | This lovely footpath on Mitcham Common was unfortunately destroyed by refuse dumping in 1959. During the 1950's and '60's a long, protracted battle was waged between local residents and the authorities governing the use of the Common. This followed the decision to allocate part of the land as a waste dump for Mitcham and Croydon. After heated debate, fresh consignments of rubbish were taken elsewhere and the affected parts of the Common were re-landscaped. |
