Notes / History | Born on Christmas Eve 1818, Eliza was a successful Victorian poet. According to Walford's book on Greater London, her "Musings on a Wimbledon Churchyard" are amongst the most popular of her poems. By the late 1880s, Eliza was living at Beech House, 23 Thornton Hill, with her nephew Alfred Pyall. She died on 23 September 1889 and was buried at Gap Road Cemetery, Wimbledon. |
