Notes / History Seven Islands Pond is the largest and best known of the ponds on the Common.

It is in the middle of Mitcham Common and was created in the early 1900’s when excavations left by gravel diggers formed deep pools and hillocks which were eventually levelled and trimmed into shape.

The pond is now home to lots of wild life including dragonflies, toads, frogs and the surrounding woodland and scrub is home to many birds.
