Notes / History | This young cyclist is pictured in front of shops on Merton High Street, including a local tearoom and the Wandle Bridge Marine Store, (a rather grandly named purveyor of furniture and domestic goods). Notice the cycle clips worn to prevent the boy's trousers getting caught in the spokes of his bicycle. The buildings, shown here, were later demolished to make way for the London Omnibus Garage which still stands opposite Merton Savacentre. |
