Notes / History | St James Road is located in North Mitcham - West Streatham, where rapid urbanization took place in the early 19th century with the expansion of Streatham Railway, which resulted in more housing and roads were build connecting Bridge Fields, Yorkshire Fileds of Biggin Farm and Figgs Mash transforming Streatham and Mitcham from rural farm land to urban areas of the day. Known for the extensive lavender rich fields very quickly Mitcham become a favorable place to live with soothing air surroundings. |
