| Notes / History | A delivery wagon passing down Whitford Lane (now London Road), Mitcham. Many local roads were little more than dirt tracks during the Victorian era. Bad weather reduced them to a virtual quagmire and it was not uncommon for cart wheels to get stuck in the mud, forcing drivers to dig their way out or proceed on foot. |
