Notes / History | Near to Wandle Park in Colliers Wood, Connolly’s quickly developed a reputation for supplying high quality leathers, particularly for the motor industry. This link was established during the early years of British car manufacture. In addition to leather itself, the firm also developed a range of products for restoring worn upholstery and disguising scuff marks. Connolly’s Merton works remained in operation until the early 1990’s, when production was transferred to Ashford, Kent. The mill was purchased by Wandle Housing Association and converted into flats. The remaining buildings were demolished to allow for the construction of the Kendall Court housing development. |
