Notes / History | Decca Ltd were best known for their recording business. ( They notoriously turned down the opportunity to sign the Beatles.) The trade arm also included Decca Radar and Decca Navigation. Decca Record Company Limited was established by Edward Lewis in 1929 and is now owned by the Universal Music Group. The Decca company offices were spread across the south western corner of the London Borough of Merton in the Burlington Road and Bushey Road area. Here they occupied a number of buildings including the former Odeon Cinema at Shannon Corner. The Decca building shown here has now been replaced by retail outlets. The Kingston-By-Pass shown in the foreground survives as the A3. |
