| Notes / History | The shops in the picture are occupied by Angus & Read and William Pugh. They are located just south of The White Hart public house .This type of shop/house were common in Mitcham having been created by the adaptation of former private houses. According to Tom Francis there was a toy shop at one time and later Sam Turner a boot maker, who made boots for the Australian cricketers who visited Mitcham for practice. During the Second World War they were occupied by the National Fire Service. |
