Notes / History | Nothing is known about this building apart from the fact that it was in Mitcham. However, a large imposing house, known as 'Old Bedlam' is known to have stood on the corner of Killick's Lane (now Majestic Way), overlooking Upper Green, Mitcham which was pulled down in 1854. Described as 'irregular in plan, half-timbered and jettied with a multitude of chimneys and gables' and known to have changed considerably over several centuries, it could perhaps be 'Old Bedlam', a property known to have been frequently painted by artists over a long period of time. However, further research would be needed to confirm the conjecture that it could be this building. |
