Notes / History | Shown is one of the stone eagles which flank the gates to Eagle House, Mitcham, dated c. 1910. In the past these decorative birds have often fallen victim to vandalism, however in recent years they have been restored to their full glory. The iron gates are wrought to include the initials of an early resident of the house, James Doliffe, a merchant and founding member of the South Sea Company. |
