| Notes / History | Chester House (Back yard view), Wimbledon. One of the oldest surviving buildings in the area, Chester House was built during the 1690s. Between 1792 and 1812. It was the home of John Horne Tooke, the radical politician and reformist. The household included a large Tom-cat, which Tooke fusses and hand-fed titbits each day after dinner. A complete renovation and extension of a Grade II Listed Georgian mansion based in Wimbledon. Chester House has now been transformed into a single family home, having been previously converted in to offices in the 1950’s. |
