Notes / History | Now in the care of the National Trust, this white timber-fronted house, next to the rose garden, is known as Morden Cottage and was built during the mid-eighteenth century. After Gilliat Hatfeild’s death, his son Gilliat Edward inherited the estate. Unmarried and childless, he did not take up residence at Morden Hall but preferred instead to live in Morden Cottage, which was his home for the remainder of his life. |
