Notes / History | Male members of The Stepping Out Dance Company, performing at St. Helier British Legion. They were a Merton and Morden based dance and cabaret group, which performed as part of various shows. Dancing was very popular during the 1950s. Dancing schools catered for teenagers, eager to learn the ballroom moves needed for the Fox-Trot and Quick-Step. With the arrival of Rock 'n' Roll in 1956, dance-styles became faster as youngsters jumped and jived to the music beat. |
