Notes / History | A meeting between the head teachers of the Council Schools led by Mr W.J Dickinson and Canon D.F. Wilson on the days leading up to Canon Wilson's 50th Jubilee. The head teachers gave him a framed photo of the meeting as a Jubilee present and he sent “an appropriately worded letter in reply”. (The Advertiser). During his 50 years Mitcham grew from a small country village to a large town. Canon Wilson was renowned for his contribution to the local community, especially local schools, and remained vicar until his death in 1918. |
