Notes / History The Girls Training Corps led by Mrs Shelley (Commandant) and Mrs Valentine (Assistant Commandant).

The Girls Training Corps was formed during the Second World War for girls who were too young to take part in official war work, but still wanted to get involved somehow. In the GTC, they were taught Morse code and semaphore and how to do simple household repairs, in addition to serving as messengers for Air Raid Precautions Wardens, and helping the war effort in many other small ways.
