Notes / History | Crowds gather for the unveiling of Mitcham Clocktower on Fair Green. Built on the site of the old village pump, the clocktower commemorates the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, and was financed by public subscription. You can see the four gas lamps which originally lit the clock's faces. The position of the clock-tower has since been altered, to allow for the redevelopment of Fair Green during the early 1990's. |
