Notes / History | Not a natural pond, but a gravel pit formed by the extraction of gravel for road laying, repairs etc. in the 19th century, Seven Islands Pond was deepened in the inter-war years so that it could be used for swimming and boating and became very popular with Mitcham children. The pond is still very popular and is also now home to lots of wild life including dragonflies, toads, frogs and the surrounding woodland and scrub is home to many birds. |
