Notes / History | Henry Hoare (1750 - 1826) moved to Mitcham in 1786. He was a senior partner in Hoare's Bank, Fleet Street, London. Whilst living in Mitcham he contributed to village life, helping to manage Sunday Schools, serving as a Vestry official and financing repairs to the parish church. His memorial in the chancel reads: "a blessing and example to all around him." |
