Notes / History | Alec Bedser was a rock-solid English right-arm bowler. He was a stalwart for Surrey County, playing for 21 long years. He also led, and often carried, England’s bowling attack during a decade of international service. Accolades are easy to find - Australia’s most famous and highly regarded cricketer Sir Don Bradman rated his own dismissal by Bedser during the 1946 Ashes series as the finest ball he had ever succumbed to. After retirement, Bedser went on to become the chairman of selectors for the English national team, and also president of Surrey County Cricket Club.
