| Notes / History | The population of Merton became increasingly diverse during the 1970s as people moved here from other countries, particularly India and Pakistan. A number of people also emigrated from Germany and Poland. One obvious reflection of the changing community was the construction of new places of worship; for instance Wimbledon Mosque was built in 1977 and the Shree Ghanapathy Hindu Temple was completed by 1980. |
