Notes / History | A church has stood on this site since Saxon times and parts of the current building date from 1115. The chancel was constructed in 1400 and much of the church interior was remodelled during the late 19th century. Local landowner, John Innes, paid for the removal of the old west gallery in 1897. Following his death in 1904 a set of fine stained glass windows were added as a memorial. These were designed by the famous pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burn-Jones and were constructed at William Morris’s art and craft works at Merton Abbey. |
