Notes / History | Rose Planting Ceremony at Glebelands Old Peoples' Home. A number of rose bushes were planted to brighten up the grounds. The Mayor, Councillor Higgs, planted the first bush, and one of the residents, 86 year old Mr R. Newman, planted another. Among those residents present was 90 year old Mr J Haycock, who was once a gardener for Mizen's Market Gardeners. Pupils from Sherwood School, Pollards Hill, raised money for five bush roses. Amongst others who contributed were the Civic Society, East Mitcham Womens' Corp and Alpha Youth Club. |
