Notes / History | The Eagle Leather Works straddled the River Wandle on the borders of Mitcham and Carshalton. Made up of two mills bought in 1884 by J.S. Deed and Son, together with other facilities, the Eagle complex continued with leather-working on the Mitcham bank until 1989. This photograph is undated but it was reportedly taken by E.P. Olney who is known to have taken pictures of other sites on the Wandle in the late 1940s. |
