| Notes / History | Wimbledon Swimming Baths opened in 1901. The photo shows the interior of Wimbledon Swimming Baths with ladies swimming session in progress. This gives a clear view of the splendid tiled bath hall, with its wrought iron gallery for spectators. The women shown far right, may be pool attendants or employees from the washing area. Many local homes still lacked hot running water during this period and public baths gave many people a chance to make use of heated showers and washing facilities. |
