| Notes / History | Sergeant Smith checks the cycling skills of local youngsters at Modern Schools Safe Cycling competition, Poplar Road South, in 1954. During the 1950s and 60s there were a number of initiatives to assess the safety and competence of young cyclists. Many schools staged cycling proficiency tests with the assistance of the local police. In Morden, road safety certificates were later awarded at a special ceremony at the Odeon cinema on the corner of Aberconway Road. |
