Notes / History The exterior of Morden Underground Station and the local Bus Terminal in 1990s shows transformation of the Merton area. In 1926 the Northern Line was extended were Merton become within easy traveling distance of the Capital and there was an increasing demand for housing and shops. Following on from the active recruitment policy during the 1950s and 60s, London Transport has a stringent policy of equal opportunities with regard to employment. The network of buses, overground and underground trains now employs a huge number of international staff of both sexes. These include drivers, conductors, station and administrative staff.
