Notes / History | One of the last 630 trolley-buses, now replaced by the 220 bus diesel service. This vehicle is of 1935-38 vintage, has 70 seats and is powered by a single compound wound motor, developing approx. 95 hp. Mitcham & Tooting Advertiser 21-7-1960 front page. For the last time, people in Mitcham and Tooting hears the quiet hiss of trolley-buses nosing their way down London Road and out across the common to West Croydon on Tuesday, 19-7-1960. The last trolley ran north from Croydon at 11-19 pm. On Wednesday the 24 years old electric "silent service" was replaced by no. 220 diesel service, which uses the new 64 seater Routemaster buses. |
