Notes / History | Pictured here is the Writing Room; the written word enabled a soldier to maintain regular contact with his family. During the Great War millions of postcards and letters were exchanged and the Forces postal service seems to have been remarkable efficient. Even letters sent from the Western Front seem to have been delivered in a matter of days. The YMCA provided its own postal service for troops stationed at Wimbledon Camp. |
