| Notes / History | Situated next to the King's Head pub, this shop appears to have the usual array of fruit displayed in the window. One wonders how 'wood vinegar', advertised at a penny a quart, differed from ordinary vinegar. Notice the carpet-chair, picture centre - a common form of pushchair during this period, it had a simple wooden frame, with carpet off-cuts used to form a seat. |
