Notes / History | This photograph was taken in 1900. Mitcham Bridge marks the boundary between Mitcham and Morden. Immediately upriver of the bridge are the sites of Glover’s Snuff Mill, Crown Mill and Grove Mill. It's not known when this bridge was built although records show it was there in the early nineteenth century. Some kind of bridge, almost certainly made of wood, crossed the Wandle at this point as long ago as 1685. |
