Morden Hall was built for the wealthy Garth family, lords of the manor of Morden from 1554 to 1872.

Richard Garth I was a senior clerk at the Chancery, (the Lord Chancellor's court.) His family initially built a large house called Growtes, near the current site of Morden Lodge. However c.1750 they built Morden Hall, then a fine symmetrical building with two large wings, linked by a colonnade and encircled by a moat fed from the Wandle.

Morden Hall has had a varied history, in addition to being a private home, the building has housed a school, a military hospital, council offices and a restaurant. It is now a private wedding venue.
