Merton has a rich heritage, encompassing everything from ancient monuments and listed buildings, to industrial and scientific pioneers, sporting prowess, horticultural heritage and famous names from the world of literature, politics and the Arts.

The borough also boasts an amazing variety of local museums, historical societies and community groups, dedicated to raising awareness of Merton’s colourful past.

In these difficult times the heritage sector faces many challenges and opportunities. Merton’s heritage organisations are keen to safeguard local heritage for current and future generations, ensuring that it is relevant and accessible to all.

Public consultation will be key to this process and addressing the learning needs and cultural interests of the wider community. Merton Heritage Service is therefore inviting local residents to share their views as part of a consultation exercise linked to the draft Draft Merton Heritage Strategy 2020 – 25. Your feedback will help to prioritise service development over the next five years.

Click to view the draft Merton Heritage Strategy and access the consultation survey.

The consultation runs from 3 June to 1 July 2020.
